Underwater image enhancement finds extensive applications in aquaculture and fisheries management, underwater mapping and navigation, inspection of underwater structures or its environmental changes, underwater surveillance, search or rescue operations, oceanography or archaeology investigations and many more marine-related studies. If you are a researcher, who is aiming to contribute in any of these above-mentioned fields, you can get access to the Underwater Image Enhancement Benchmark (UIEB) Dataset from the GitHub repository (https://li-chongyi.github.io/proj_benchmark.html). This dataset allows the researcher to perform his/ her research using a large-scale of real-world images, rather than depending on synthetic or few underwater images. This dataset is known to comprise about 950 real-world images of the underwater scene, 890 of which had their associated high-quality reference images too. The remaining 60 images without reference images have been assumed as the challenging data. However, all the images being downloaded can be accessed only with a certain password being provided in the link. It is very important that this dataset has been created only for use in academic settings and has a citation request for its usage as:
